Amory - Ross Edwin Delong, Sr., 64, died Wednesday night at the Gilmore Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Mobile, Ala., was a Merchant Marine engineer for 11 years, and a retired civil service employee at Tinker Air Fore Base in Oklahoma City, Okla. He had resided in Amory since 1977 and was a member of the Independence Order of the Odd Fellows.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at the Pickle Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Garland Jones officiating. Burial will be in the Haughton Memorial Park.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Lester Evelyn Mitchell DeLong of Amory; two daughters, Mrs. Margaret Peterson and Mrs. Linda Cunningham, both of Midwest City, Okla., a son, Chief Warrant Officer Ross Edwin DeLong, Jr., of Fort Rucker, Ala.; his mother, Mrs. Hazel Iris Laird DeLong of Mobile; a sister, Mrs. Faye Ellen Hinton of Mobile; six grandchildren.
