Mrs. Rothberger died Thursday, March 8, 2001, at Topeka Presbyterian Manor.
She was born Jan. 7, 1902, in Eudora, the daughter of Joseph and Caroline (Schehrer)
Eder. She attended Eudora public schools and received her licensed practical nurse's
education from Chicago School of Nursing. She moved to Topeka in 1995 from Eudora.
Mrs. Rothberger held a variety of jobs; LPN for C.B. Johnson, M.D., and Lewis C.
Blackburn, M.D.; a former manager of Grayce Shop; and manager of J.C. Penney's
Ready-to-Wear, Lawrence. She also worked at Kansas Color Press for 25 years. During World
War II she worked at Hercules Powder Plant.
She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church, St. Theresa's Club, Eudora Quilter's
Club, Eudora Pitch Club and Communications Workers of America Union. She was also a
volunteer for the Eudora Annual Flu Clinic.
She married Maxwell Rothberger on Feb. 28, 1922, in Eudora. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Marie Maxine Putnam, Carbondale; a son, Leo Maxwell
Rothberger, Clearwater Beach, Fla.; five grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and
three great-great-grandchildren.
