Mrs. Cassie Akers, 67, died at the home of her sister, Mrs. Retta Poole, Eighth Street, yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock following a three-week illness.

Mrs. Akers, nee Maria Catherine "Cassie" Smith was born in Jonesboro, Tenn., October 17, 1866, to William H. Smith and Eliza Klepper.

She married Robert A. Akers in 1900 and has been a member of the Church of Christ since childhood. She moved to Tekoa, Whitman County, Wash. in 1900 and lived there until 1924 when she and her family moved to Clarkston.

She is survived by four sons and one daughter; Earl S., Wilbur, Wash.; Roland, Clarkston; John, Lewiston; James, Newport, Wash.; and Mrs. E. W. Hicks, Prosser, Wash., and two grandchildren.

She leaves two brothers, James W. Smith of Jonesboro, Tenn.; Herbert Smith of Mansfield, Wash.; three sisters, Mrs. Retta P____? of Clarkston; Miss Mollie Smith, Jonesboro, Tenn.; and Mrs. Minnie Cloyd, Johnson City, Tenn.
