Died, while on a visit in Telfair county, at the residence of Mrs. Sarah A.E. Wilcox, on Saturday, the 24th ult. in the 18th year of her age, Miss Sophia F. Adams, daughter of Wiley and Frances Adams of Montgomery county, Ga. Miss A. embraced religion and joined the Methodist Espcopal church in Madison, Ga., in September, 1856, when she was a student at the Madison Female College, to which faith she strictly adhered. She has left behind an affectionate father and mother and many other relations and friends to mourn their untimely loss. Her disposition was kind and gentle - her manners modest and retiring - her habits industrious and studious- her word candid and truthful, and her deportment consistent, in her was displayed the good character of woman, and her loss is deeply regretted; but she is gone to the realms above - to bourne from whence no traveller returns.

How blest the righteous when they die,
When holy souls retire to rest;
How mildly beams the closing eye,
How gently heaves the expiring breast.

So fades the summer clouds away,
So sinks the gale when storms are o'ver
So gently shuts the eve of day,
So dies the waves upon the shore.

Southern Recorder. 10 August 1858. p3.
