JOHN W. LaCHANCE
John W. LaChance of Knob Lick was born in Mine La Motte March 14, 1886, a son of the late Alex and Parlee Brewen [sic] LaChance and passed away February 7, 1975 at the Farmington Community Hospital being 88 years of age.
On August 7, 1909 he was united in marriage in marriage to Kathryn Mae Miller, who preceded him in death on May 30, 1968. To this union five daughters and three sons were born, two of whom preceded in death him in death: Linda Marie in 1919 and Harold Cletus in 1921.
Surviving are four daughters: Alma (Mrs. Dalton) Moore of Lake Timberline; Mrs. Mildred Mullins of St. Louis; Maxine (Mrs. E.W.) Umfleet of Farmington; Ruby (Mrs. Harry) Canterberry of Knob Lick; two sons, John W. LaChance of Lake Timberline and Darrell LaChance, Farmington; 22 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven step-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Andrew LaChance of Bonne Terre and Sylvester LaChance of Potosi; and a sister, Mary LaChance of Farmington.
He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church since early life; was retired from St. Joe Lead Company; and operated a grocery store in Knob Lick for many years.
Funeral services were held Monday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m., at the Miller Funeral Home with the Rev. O.D. Matthews and the Rev. Harold Mobley officiating. Interment was in Mine La Motte Cemetery with Miller Funeral Home of Farmington in charge of arrangements.

His daughter, Helen Maxine (Mrs. E.W. Umfleet) is buried at Libertyville Christian Cemetery in St. Francois Co., MO.
