VERONA – William J. Miller, 76, died at a Verona nursing home, Sunday (March 29, 1970) after a long illness.

He and his brother-in-law Frank Stewart, opened the Stewart-Miller grocery store in 1916, now known as Miller and Son. He was born in Springdale Township and was a director of the Verona Bank for more than 50 years.

He served on the Verona Village Board, as the clerk of the Verona School Board, and a member of the fire department. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic lodge.

Surviving are his wife, the former Alva M Richardson, who he married in 1916, a son, Keith, Verona, Mrs. Natalie A (W. H.) Gerke, Appleton; a brother Alexander D. Miller and a sister, Mae Susan Miller Steckelberg, Verona, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
