1891 Geo. W. Oliver was a night clerk at Wisconsin Telephone Company
1893 Geo. W. Oliver student in high school. Living at 730 Oak Street
1900-1912 George W. Oliver employed by the Bell Telephone Company.
Mr. Oliver entered the telephone business here in the capacity of a lineman in January, 1899. He left the service in October 1901, and returned in Febraury 1902. In May 1905, he was made wire chief at Janesville and he was given a similar assignment here in Beloit in January 1907. From August 1907 to January 1911 he was out of the business, being engaged in other work. In January 1911 he returned as a lineman, in April 1912 appointed assistant wire chief and May 1912 assigned to his present post. In recognition of his quarter century of service W. R. McGovern presented him with a diamond emblem.
George Washington died November 1, 1949 and is buried at Oakwood Cemetery, Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin. George married 28 November 1900 Beloit, Rock County, Wisconsin to Lydia Olive Sage. Survivers were his wife and 4 children: Georgia Lucille, Gerald Keith, Harried Carolyn and John Willard Oliver.
