Florence E. (Magdon) Cholewinski, formerly of Trumbull, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at age 94 at her home in Madison on Sunday, October 1, 2023. Born in Hatfield, Massachusetts, on November 20, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Wojciech 'George' Magdoń and Elizabeth A. (Dubiel) Magdon, and the beloved wife of Theodore 'Ted' Cholewinski, Jr., to whom she'd been married for 50 years.
A faithful parishioner of St. Michael the Archangel Church in Bridgeport, Florence had been an active member of the Ladies Senior Guild for many years. She devoted the early years of her life to running the household and raising her four children; and in later years, she was content with her quiet time, making crossword puzzles, and enjoying visits with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also spent many hours tracing her family's genealogy with her beloved late grandson Eric Cholewinski. During her years at the HarborChase assisted living facility (The Hearth), she especially enjoyed her relationships with many of the staff and caregivers.
Florence leaves behind two sons, Kenneth G. Cholewinski (and his wife Lynn) of Killingworth, Connecticut, and Joseph W. Cholewinski (and his wife Marsha) of Durham, North Carolina; four grandchildren, Melissa L. Yager (and her husband Derrick), Elizabeth R. Smith (and her husband Ted), Joel C. Zera, and a special granddaughter Krista Cholewinski; several great-grandchildren; a sister, Cecelia M. (Magdon) Dzialo of Stratford, Connecticut; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and her parents, she was predeceased by her son Theodore 'Ted' Cholewinski, III, her daughter Nancy E. (Cholewinski) Eads, a grandson Eric Cholewinski, and five brothers and sisters.
The Commerce Hill Radozycki Funeral Home of Bridgeport was entrusted with Mrs. Cholewinski's care; and graveside services were held at 11:00 on Saturday morning, October 14, 2023, in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull, Connecticut. In abiding with Florence's wishes, there were no calling hours.
