Mrs. Young funeral tomorrow
Funeral services for Mrs. Iva May Young, 89, who passed away at the County Geriatric Hospital in Quincy on Tuesday will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. at the Taylorsville Community Church. Mrs. Young was born December 5, 1879, tenth in a family of 12 on the Boyden home place, now the Osmeyer home on Stampfli Lane. She was raised and educated in Indian Valley and later attended a Music Institute in Utah.
A very special musical family, the Boydens had an orchestra and several soloists and vocal groups within their own family. She was a member of an early American family who, in the book "Thomas Boyden and his descendants", traced her family back to 1634, when Thomas Boyden, then 21 years of age, landed in New England.
In 1911, she was married to Claude Young, who preceded her in death, and lived the remainder of her life in Taylorsville. She was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. She is survived by a sister, Mary Short of Greenville and Sacramento; three sons, John and Bill Young of Taylorsville and Melvin of Detroit; several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Interment will be in the Taylorsville Cemetery.
