1-25-24 thanks to Polli (48037224) for correcting birth place from LaPorte County to Jefferson County, IN, with the following explanation:
Not likely he was born in LaPorte county. His family arrived in what was then Clark County, IN, around 1809 where his parents married. Their home in 1811 became Jefferson County, and in 1817 became Jennings County. The family is shown to be in Jennings County in the 1820 census.
