Thomas A. Lorenzetti Sr., 87, of Bristol, widower of Isabelle (Busto) Lorenzetti, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Plainville Health Care Center. Mr. Lorenzetti was born in Lawrence, Mass., on July 7, 1920, and was a son of the late Antonio and Julia (Petteruti) Lorenzetti. A longtime Bristol resident, he was a highly decorated World War II combat veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, where he took part in the Pacific battles of Makin, Saipan and Okinawa. He received the Bronze Star medal and the Purple Heart Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster for twice receiving wounds in battle. After his service, he worked at Marlin Rockwell Division of TRW in Plainville for 33 years before retiring in 1981. Tommy was a family-oriented individual who cherished the many good times he had with his entire family. Mr. Lorenzetti is survived by three sons, Thomas Lorenzetti Jr. and his wife, Pauline, Dennis Lorenzetti and James Lorenzetti and his wife, Michelle, all of Bristol; two daughters, Lori Dzioba and her husband, Richard, of Forestville and Annette Lorenzetti of Bristol; two brothers, Alfred and Raymond Lorenzetti of Bristol; a sister, Ida Fiondella of Florida; nine grandchildren, Christina Justus, Thomas Lorenzetti III, Scott and Lindsay Dzioba, James Lorenzetti Jr., Nicole, Gerald and Michael Lorenzetti and Marcus Lorenzetti; five great-grandchildren, Thomas Lorenzetti IV, Taylor Lorenzetti, Holden Justus and Joel and Alli Lorenzetti; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers, Ralph, John, William and Fred Petteruti; and two sisters, Jenny Lodovico and Mary Holden. Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 21, 2008, at 9 a.m. from Funk Funeral Home, to St. Matthew Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Burial, with military honors, followed in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol.
