Born July 31, 1932 in Carlisle, she was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Hollenbaugh Deihl and the widow of Jacob Lehman Bear, Sr., who died in 1994 after 42 years of marriage.
Mary enjoyed cooking, baking, sewing and working in her flower garden. She loved finding bargains at the flea markets and yard sales.
Surviving are two sons, Jacob L. Bear Jr. and his wife, Eileen of Newville and John Bear and his wife, Ellen of Shermans Dale; two daughters, Deborah Campbell and husband, Brian of Loysville and Stephanie Bear of Newville; eight grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by five brothers, Lester, Jacob, Kenneth, Wilmer and Paul Deihl.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday in the Hoffman-Roth Funeral Home and Crematory, 219 N. Hanover Street, Carlisle, with the Rev. Trevor Rosenberry officiating. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens, Carlisle. There will be a viewing from 9:30 a.m., Tuesday until the time of the services in the funeral home.
