Dora B. Kirkland, daughter of Benson and Mary Catherine Kirkland, was born near Plano, Iowa Sept. 20, 1869, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lester Sager, near Seymour, Ia., Nov. 8, 1941, at the age of 71 years, 1 month and 19 days.
She was united in marriage to Geo. W. True, Feb. 18, 1889, and to this union were born five children. The husband preceded his companion in death on Jan. 3rd of this year. One son, Harold, passed away at the age of 8 years.
Mrs. True united with the Little Flock Baptist church in early life and lived a consistent Christian life through all the remaining years. She was a faithful wife, a loving mother and friend and neighbor to all. Much interest was shown in her home and family.
Four children, six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, besides other relatives and many friends mourn her passing. The children are: Mrs. Mae Harbold, Plano; Mrs. Rolla Sager, Seymour; Mrs. Vera Sager, Promise City, and Harley True, of Cherokee, Iowa. Four brothers are living; C. F. and Ray Kirkland, of California, Ora, of Des Moines, and John near Plano. A sister, Mrs. Lincoln Harbold, passed away Nov. 30th 1940, and a brother, Friend Kirkland, died in June, 1938.
Mrs. True's health began to fail more than two years ago and she became critically ill the first of October. She was a most patient sufferer and was ready for the final summons and the coming of her Christ.
Funeral services were held at the Little Flock Baptist church Monday morning at eleven o'clock, conducted by the Rev. Luther W. Childs. Interment in the Little Flock cemetery in the family lot.
