FIELDING-In this city, January 12, 1885 of old age, MARY ANN FIELDING, aged 78 years, 3 months and 5 days.

Deceased was born near Preston, England, October 7th 1806; was one of the first members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the British Isles, having been baptized by Elder Heber C. Kimball on the opening of the European Mission in 1840. With her husband and family she soon afterwards emigrated to Nauvoo, Illinois; whence, in the fall of 1848, she removed to the valley of the Great Salt Lake, where she has since resided.

Her life was devoted to ministering to the sick, the infirm, the poor and the needy. Her zeal for the truth and for the defense of the case of God were the controlling objects of her existence and her faith in a risen Redeemer was undimmed til her latest breath.
