• MARIETTA -- Services for Nathan Malcolm Baxley, 58, Courtney will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Kennedy Funeral Home Chapel with Jim McCage officiating. Interment will follow at Belleville Cemetery, Courtney.

Born Dec. 28, 1941, at Belleville to Clifford T. and Cleo Banks Baxley, he died May 19, 2000, at his residence. He was preceded in death by his mother on Feb. 26, 1997.

He married Mary Lou Allman on Oct. 8, 1993, at Thackerville. Baxley lived all of his life in Love County. He graduated from Ringling High School in 1959 and Okmulgee Tech in 1963. He was a member of Courtney Methodist Church, where he served in the children's ministry and on several boards. He was a Gideon and lay minister, preaching at Courtney United Methodist Church and Leon Baptist Church. He also had an outreach ministry at local jails and prisons. He had been a sheet metal mechanic at Weber Aircraft for 30 years.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; his father, Courtney; two stepsons, Clinton Harrington, Blue Mound, Kan., and John Harrington, Pleasanton, Kan.; one stepdaughter, Betty Finley, Blue Mound; one sister, Gaye Dewbre, Courtney; and nine step-grandchildren.

Bearers are Mark Weatherly, Steve Smith, Dewayne McCarty, Larry Blankenship, Bruce Budgie, Boog Taliaferro, Gene Jackson, John Scone and Bubba Parker. Honorary bearers are Tom O'Connor, Wesley Liddell Jr., Bob Balog, Ott Ladner, Ronnie Austin, all Gideons and Love County Sheriff's Department personnel.

Visitation is 3 to 5 p.m. today at Kennedy Funeral Home.
