JOEL J. TERRELL DIES HERE FRIDAY
- PASSED AWAY FRIDAY EVENING AFTER SECOND PARALYTIC STROKE
Joel Jackson Terrell, a highly respected pioneer resident of this city, passed peacefully away last Friday evening at the home of his daughter, Mrs. D. Milt Griffin, in east La Plata, after suffering two paralytic strokes some time ago, and had been bedfast for several months.
Deceased was 77 years, 7 months and 5 days of age.
He is survived by two sons and three daughters, John of Parkville, Missouri, Jackson of Spokane, Washington, and Mesdames Fannie Griffin, Etta Cabeen and Ermine McCarty, all of La Plata; besides many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m., conducted by Rev. F.L. Hudson of the Presbyterian Church. Interment was made in the La Plata Cemetery beside his wife, who preceded him in death three years ago.

J.J. Terrell was born on Aug. 9, 1841 in Illinois; passed away at his home in La Plata, Mar. 14, 1919, aged 77 years, 7 months and 5 days.
He was married to Miss Anna T. Magee, Sept. 3, 1865. To them were born eight children, six of whom survive the parents. Mrs. Terrell was called home more than two years ago.
Mr. Terrell professed his faith in Christ and united with the Presbyterian church at Terrell school house in early manhood, and was made a ruling elder in the same church. After he came to La Plata he united with the Universalist Church. In 1916, he became a member of the La Plata Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Terrell was a veteran of the Civil War.
The children who survive are Mrs. J.M. McCarty of La Plata, W.J. Terrell of Wenatchee, Washington, Mrs. Wm. Cabeen of La Plata, A.B. Terrell of Spokane, Washington, J.M. Terrell of Parkville, Missouri, and Mrs. D. Milt Griffin of La Plata.
Funeral services were conducted from the Presbyterian Church Sunday afternoon, Mar. 16, conducted by Rev. F.L. Hudson. Interment was in La Plata Cemetey.
