Samuel A. Strain was the son of David Strain, Jr. and Elizabeth Allen Strain. I suspect he was named for Elizabeth's father Samuel Allen of Pennsylvania. Old family records believe he died at age 20 on 11 Jun 1822. Plus the August 1936 W. P. A. survey says that his marker says it was "In the 20th Year of his age."
Samuel's eroded white marble stone is very hard to read (in person) in June 1996. Enlarging the 2010 photo kindly taken by a kind volunteer, it is easier to read. I suspect it has been cleaned by another angel there.
