Mrs. J. W. Wane, another of the best known and most highly esteemed pioneer residents of the county, passed away at her home six miles southeast of the city, at 8:00 o'clock Thursday evening, October 29th, after a painful illness of several years duration with cancer. The funeral services were held from the home at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Houser of this city, and attended by hundreds of sorrowing friends, come to pay a last tribute of esteem to a good woman whom all had known and loved in life. The remains were borne to their last resting place in the Boone cemetery, followed by a funeral cortege more than a mile in length. Special music was rendered by a quartette composed of Mrs. Beulah Higgins and Miss Dorothy Phillips and Messrs Emil Nelson and Milo Slade. The pall bearers were F.M. Hoffman, E.J. Cartwright, J.E. Jennings, John W. Dyer, H.N. Riker and J. H. McLarnan. Laura Boone, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Boone, was born in Boone County, Iowa, May 9, 1853. She grew to young womanhood here and on December 23, 1873 was united in marriage to J.W. Wane. To them were born six children, two of whom passed away several years ago, George R, and Eunice L. She is survived by her husband and four children, Mrs. Lena R. Dyer of San Diego, California, and Zylpha A., John M., and Eva L., residing here. The sincere sympathy of a host of friends is given the sorrowing family in their bereavement.
