Our mother, Viola, returned to her Heavenly Father July 19, 2007. Viola was born January 29, 1915 in Midvale, Utah to Charles Arthur and Amelia Phillips Doty. Lived most of her life in Midvale and Sandy, later resided in Riverton and Payson, Utah. Married Wilford Nielsen, later divorced. Married Nils Simon (Fred) Simonson, November 22, 1939. Later married John Floyd Haddenham, October 11, 1957 in the Logan Temple. They preceded her in death. Viola worked as a cook at Mt. Jordan Jr. High and Cottonwood Hospital. She was a gifted homemaker and a loving, caring mother and grandmother. She enjoyed baking, sewing, embroidery, reading, dancing, music, walking, genealogy, and writing letters to her family and friends. Viola was an unselfish caregiver to many. She was a devoted member of the LDS Church with a strong testimony of the gospel and her Savior. She served faithfully in her callings in the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society, as a volunteer at the Bishop's storehouse in Sandy, and as a temple worker with Floyd for many years in the Salt Lake and Jordan River Temples. Many have been blessed by her love and will miss her dearly. Viola is survived by her daughters, Mary (David) Samuelson, Payson, UT; Catherine (Darrell) Tanner, Harper Woods, MI; and sons, Charles Simonson and Brent Haddenham, Salt Lake City; stepchildren, Warren, Lloyd (Lois), George, John, Gene Haddenham, Carrol Bertwell, Chris Bacon; brothers, Arthur (Elva) Doty, John Light, Harold Laur; sisters, Leah Adams, Nola Buttars, Mary Emmons, Louise (Paul) Spence, Norma Hoyt; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by parents; stepmother, Loretta Warby Doty; stepfather, John Laur; brothers, Lester, Raymond, and Alden Doty; Eugene, Robert, and John Laur; sister, Mildred Wilson; stepsons, Stuart and Floyd Haddenham; daughter-in-law, Elaine Haddenham. Funeral services will be held Monday, July 23, 2007, at 11 a.m. at the Mt. Jordan 3rd Ward, 8950 S. 400 E., Sandy, UT. A viewing will be held Sunday, July 22, 2007, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Goff Mortuary, 8090 South State, Midvale, UT, and prior to services 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Sandy City Cemetery. The family would like to thank Dr. William LeRoy, Mountain View Hospital staff and Alpine Hospice for their loving care.
