Memorial service for Cleburne Franks, 95, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday,July 18, at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Jay Abernathy officiating.

Mr. Franks died Friday, July 13, 2007, at Dogwood Trails Assisted Living in Palestine, Texas and his body was donated to Baylor College of Dentistry.

He was born April 1, 1912, in Elkhart, Texas to William Henry Franks and Zelma Quarles.

Cleburne served in the Navy during World War II, and was a long time resident of the Palestine area working at Pryors's Mens Store and the Palestine Glass plant.He was a member of the First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Mr. Franks was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wilbur and Weldon Franks; brother-in-law, Mac Caskey; first wife,Oveta Franks; and second wife Ferne James Franks.

He is survived by his sister, Juanita Caskey of Florida; sister-in-law, Beverly Franks of Georgetown; three nephews, Steve Franks, Johnny Franks, and Lynn Franks, all of California; Step-son and wife, Barry and Linda James of Palestine; three grandsons and wives, Jeff and Rachel James of Palestine; Scott and Lee Ann James of Waco; David and Liana James of Palestine; and great-grandchildren, Lauryn James, Will Franklin James, Luke James, Jonah James and Price James.
