Sylvester R. Wirey

Sylvester R. Wirey, 79, of Rt. 1 Delphi, was found dead in his trailer along the Tippecanoe River Monday evening by his neighbor, Elbert New, who went to check on him when he had not seen him out all day.

Coroner James Sullivan set the time of death at 2 a.m.

He was born December 4, 1889, in White County, the son of Jacob and Elizabeth Anderson Wirey. He was a retired hotel clerk of the Fowler Hotel in Lafayette.

He is survived by nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. today (Thursday) at the Kendall Funeral Home in Princeton with burial in the Montgomery Cemetery in Oakland City.

Jackson Funeral Home in Delphi was in charge of arrangements where friends called after noon Wednesday.
