Willard E. Bowen was born on March 7, 1885 in Ennis, Madison Co, Montana. At the time his father Winslow Bowen was 36 and his mother Elizabeth Vedder Bowen was 41. He married this writers grandmother Rosa Alma 'Graves' St John in 1914 and they had one child together in 1915: Roy Bowen. He undoubedly attended his mothers funeral in Baker, Ore in 1928. He then married Clara Jane Clark in Seattle about 1934 and they had one child together: Robert Bowen. We know also that he was married to a Margaret Hoffman by 1942. He passed away on April 23, 1962 in Elk, Washington near Spokane at the age of 77 and was buried in Elk Cemetery.
