Daughter Parley Phillips and Hannah (Crumb) Phillips, and sister to Dr. Jeremiah Phillips, Free Will Baptist missionary to India for many years. She was married 1849, to Prof. James S. Phillips, Ph.D, who was head of Whitestown Seminary until his death. She was the mother of seven children, which three had preceded them in death. Four of the other children migrated to Syracuse, KS.
