Ralph was born Sept. 4, 1920, in Montesano, to Homer and Rozella (Howard) Blaine. He was raised in the Brooklyn and North River area. He attended North River schools until the 11th grade and in the 12th grade he attended and graduated from Aberdeen High School in 1938. He attended Business College in Seattle.
On Oct. 11, 1941, Ralph married Ethel Bramstedt in Cosmopolis. She survives him at the family home.
Ralph served in the United States Coast Guard during WWII. He worked as a logger at various logging companies and started his own logging business in 1963.
Ralph was a member of the Aberdeen Elks Club and Knife & Fork Club. Ralph enjoyed classical music, digging clams, gardening and sharing his produce with his family and friends. Family was very important to him and he looked forward to every family gathering, especially the annual Christmas Eve parties that he and Ethel hosted for the past 40 years. Ralph and Ethel enjoyed traveling together, especially their many trips to Maui, Hawaii.
In addition to his wife, Ethel; Ralph is survived by two sons, John (Kristin) Blaine of Gig Harbor and David (Carol) Blaine of Palmdale, Calif.; three daughters, Christine (Robert) Newcomb of Montesano, Barbara (Jeff) Twidwell of Montesano, and Margaret Blaine of Miami Beach, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.
Ralph was preceded in death by his brothers, Lyle and John Blaine; and his sister, Audrey Henry.
A memorial service was held at the United Methodist Church in Montesano and burial took place at Forest Hill Cemetery in Cosmopolis.
