Bertha Elizabeth Oquist, 87 of Storm Lake, formerly of Fort Dodge, died Thursday, June 8, 2006 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Bruce-Graham Funeral Home and Cremation Center with the Rev. James Zuehls officiating. Visitation will be from 10 until 11 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.

Bertha was born October 4, 1918 the daughter of Obi and Hanna (Swanson) Erickson in Badger Township, Webster Co., IA. She was later united in marriage to Russell Garrett and to this union three children were born. Bertha was later united in marriage to Omer Oquist.

Bertha was musically talented and enjoyed playing the harmonica and guitar. She also enjoyed relaxing to the music as she listened and learned. Bertha's creative talents were visible in her construction of her rock gardens. She loved her cats dearly and was always concerned about their well being. Bertha looked forward to short drives to view the country side. In her younger years Bertha enjoyed sewing.

Mrs. Oquist is survived by her husband Omer, three children; Darlene (Gary) Hartley of Old Hickory, TN, Kenneth (Eudell) Garrett of Fort Dodge, Donna Dettmann of Henderson, NV, one sister in law; Pauline Erickson of Rockwell City, twelve grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.

Mrs. Oquist was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers; Richard and Charles Erickson.
