Joe was born to Joseph F.and Josephine Roswarski- Rumpza, and lived in the Wea area during his childhood. He graduated from Wea High School. Joe was a well-known life-long farmer in the Lafayette area. He held a spot on the Farmers Market for 50 years, selling his homegrown produce. A permanent memorial plaque for his years at the farmer's market sits on the corner of 5th and Columbia St in Laf. He also operated farm produce markets on Lilly Road,South River Rd,and St Rd 25 North. He had also worked at St Elizabeth Hosp., Cook and Oliver cabinet makers, Rush Metal Products, and Eli Lilly Co. during his adult life.
He married Eythel M. Arndt 6/20/1942 and she preceded him in death in 1999. He was also preceded in death by his son Mike in 1994 and his brother George.
Children: Deanna Sheron Griggs, Karen Sue Spangler,Joseph Melvin(Mike)Rumpza and Eydie Jo Linder.
Grandchildren:Tamara Sue(Tami),Todd C. Spangler, Nathan Lee Linder,Ryan Michael Linder, Jillian Rumpza.
