Capt. Henry N. Charter, of LaSalle, was about 52 years of age, was a long time resident of Monroe County and was well known. He had been thought to be verging upon insanity for some time, and losses of property and other troubles had weighed heavily on his mind, causing self destruction. After his dinner with his family, he went to his barn and hung himself, leaving a paper pinned to his coat stating that the act was committed in consequence of domestic difficulties.
