"Here they raised their family--George purchased land adjoining his parents' farm. When quite young he worked for Charles Black, a prominent farmer and cattle feeder...and is wages were $8 a month including board..."

On 16 Nov 1882 when George A. was 24, he first married Mary KEARNEY, daughter of ? KEARNEY, in N. Of Treynor, IA In Mary's Brother's House (Lawrence). Born on 16 Nov 1862 in Of Washington Twp., Pottawattamie Co., IA. Mary died in At Home on 23 Jan 1918; she was 55.
