Alice M. Pierce, 83, of Lindenwold, NJ, formerly of Groton, NY died August 29, 2014 at Cortland Regional Medical Center.
Born March 25, 1931 in Cincinnatus, NY she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Cora Thompson Lockwood.
Alice was a long time resident of the area and had retired in 1993 from Cornell University. She had enjoyed knitting, crocheting and gardening, but most of all enjoyed being with her family.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Pierce, Spencer Pierce, Christine Wilcox, Wayne Pierce, Douglas Pierce, Gary Pierce and Susan Tomlinson, many grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Richard, Charles and Clesson Lockwood, Lois Martin and Irene Hall, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, sister in laws, Sylvia Woernly, Nyla Lockwood and brother in law Ted Seager. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Keith V. Pierce in 1992, her siblings, William and Erwin Lockwood, Luretta Teeter, and Margaret Seager and sister in law, Kay Lockwood, and brother-in laws, Ray and Emerald Pierce.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at noon at the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams Street, Groton. The family will receive friends 11:00 – 12:00 prior to the services. Interment will be in Groton Rural Cemetery.
