Evero Estes was the 9th of 12 children of George Marshall and Ellie Margaret (Spearman) Estes. The family was displaced by the formation of Mammoth Cave National Park; the family farm was on south side of Park Ridge Road near the Roy Hunter Road intersection in Hart County; the next farm south of theirs was in Barren County. In 1936 she moved with her family to the Cedar Cliff Community in Hart County north of Horse Cave.

She married Edward German "Edd" Coats in 1938 and they lived in the Cedar Cliff Community until 1940. During this period they lived with her oldest brother (Ivy Clayton) and his family.

In 1941 they had moved to a farm adjacent to the Cave Springs Church west of Horse Cave where they share-cropped through the 1944 crop-year before returning to the Cedar Cliff Community to a farm adjacent to the Cedar Cliff Church that they had purchased where they lived until 1956. In early 1956 they moved just across Hwy 31W to the George Marshall Estes Farm which they had acquired where they lived for the remainder of their lives.

Except for the youngest child (born in Barren County) her children were born at home in Hart County, KY. As of June 2014 7 of 8 children survive.

Evero and Edd were preceded in death by granddaughter Mary Jo Holt.
