Born on Dec. 24, 1945, in Glens Falls, he was the son of the late Elias C. and Doris I. (Backus) Manley.
Roger attended Hudson Falls Central Schools and married Diane Richardson on July 1, 1991.
As a teenager and into his early 20s, he was employed by Ideal Dairy in Kingsbury, doing home deliveries of dairy products. Roger was a driver for local trucking companies for several years, until he started his own trucking company, R. Manley Trucking Co.
In 1978, he began farming and continued until 1993. To date, Roger enjoyed his cattle, horses, pigs and his special dog, Tuffy, and of course his deep passion for his John Deere Tractor. He especially took pleasure in spending time with his children, grandchildren and close friends and will be greatly missed by all those who loved him.
Besides his parents, Roger was predeceased by an infant brother, William Manley, and his sister, Joyce Bramer.
Roger's family would like to thank Dr. Monn and the staff at CCU at Glens Falls Hospital for their compassionate and loving care.
Friends may call Friday, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., 68 Main St. in Hudson Falls.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Almon Bartholomew officiating.
Burial will follow at West Fort Ann Cemetery on Tripoli Road in Kingsbury.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association of Northeastern New York, 3 Winners Circle, Suite 300, Albany, NY 12205-01187 or the charity of one's choice.
