Daniel Slaughter, 72, of Crawford, died Monday, January 22, 2007, at his home. Memorial services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 25, 2007, at First United Methodist Church of Crawford with the Rev. Kent Berry officiating. Arrangements by Cole Funeral Home, McGregor, Texas.

Daniel was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, the son of the late Alvin Robert and Oleta Slaughter. He was reared in McGregor where he graduated from McGregor High School. He attended Navarro Junior College in Corsicana where he played football. It was there Daniel met and married Jacqueline Lincecum. They moved to Beaumont where he attended Lamar College and played football. Daniel taught and coached at Northwest High School in Justin, Texas. He later moved to Haltom High School in Haltom City where he taught and coached until 1974. At that time, Daniel went to work for Texas A&M. In 1984, he and Jackie went to work as teachers in Southwest Alaska. After eight years, he retired and moved to Crawford.

Preceding him in death were his brothers: Rex, Ray, Robert, and Donnie Slaughter; and sister, Peggy Cummings.

Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Jacqueline; daughters, Cynthia Triplett and husband, Steven, and Donna Slaughter, both of Richland Hills; granddaughters; and six great-grandchildren.
