Jean Wright, 88, of Waco, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017 at her residence. Emma Jean Wright, 88, of Waco, went to be with our Lord on January 30, 2017. She passed away from Alzheimer’s at her home, surrounded by her family.

Jean was born in Lometa to Oscar and Kate Coleman Whipple. She was raised in Rockdale and graduated from high school there in 1944 at the age of 15. She married Orezen Wright on March 1, 1947 in Georgetown.

Jean retired from the V. A. Regional office in Waco after 23 years of service. She was an Avon Representative for many years and also worked filing taxes during tax season. She was a member of North Waco Baptist Church for most of her adult life. She taught Sunday school at North Waco Baptist for many years. North Waco Baptist was where she taught all of her children and grandchildren faith in God. Her family was the most important thing in her life even near the end when her condition had taken so many memories from her. Jean knew she was with family who loved her and never failed to show us that we were loved.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Orezen; daughter, Bobbie Anne Parker; son, Robert Lee Wright; brother, David Whipple; sister, Minnie Pennington; her niece, Dorothy Nell Pennington; her great-great-granddaughter, Ella Wright; and her beloved Chihuahua, Chica, who was her constant companion.

Memorial tributes may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of your choice.
