SHELBY — Ms. Dorthia Mae Cornwell, 78, of Shelby, was born Feb. 23, 1928, to the late Enoch and Myrtle Oates Cornwell in Cleveland County. She departed this life Sunday, Oct. 22, 2006, at Hospice of Cleveland County.
She became a member of Hopewell Baptist Church at a very early age.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Ellis and Mary Roberts Oates; two brothers, Haywood Oates and Reed Cornwell; and a nephew she raised as her own, Terry Wells.
Burial: Washington Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery
