"Succumbs At 84
"Willet Pottenger, 84, died at 8:45 a.m. Monday at Hardy's Rest Home, 1715 Grand Blvd., following four months of serious illness. Prior to entering the Home in April, he had maintained residence with his daughter, Mrs. Frank Meder, 321 Belle Ave.
"Born June 22, 1870, in Dunlap, Ohio, the son of Wilson and Hettie Pottenger, he was educated in Dunlap schools. In March, 1892, he married Josie A. Lewis and she preceded him in death in 1904.
"A resident of Butler County for the last 56 years and a farmer, he had been retired since coming to Hamilton in 1918. He was the last living member of the Dunlap Brass Band.
"He leaves three sons and three daughters, Lewis, Darrell and Glenn Pottenger, Mrs. Frank Meder, Mrs. Merle Campbell, all of Hamilton, and Miss Grace Pottenger, St. Petersburg, Fla. Other relatives include a brother, Albert Pottenger, Dunlap; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
"Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, at the David Webb and Sons Funeral Home, Ross and S. D Sts., with the Rev. Oliver W. Hurst, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Venice Cemetery.
"Friends may call after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home."
