Hazleton Standard Sentinel; Friday, December 8, 1944:
Mrs. Mary E. Schaub, 83, of 83 South Church street, passed away in her home last evening at 9:15 o'clock after an illness of two days. Born in Stockton, Mary E. Smith, she was a resident of this region her entire life. She was the widow of the late Justus Schaub, former local lumber dealer, who passed away in 1921. Mrs. Schaub was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and she was affiliated with the Sophia Jack Bible Class, of that Congregation.

Surviving are the following children: John, Henry, who is commander of Hazleton Post 76, American Legion, of this city; Danzer, of San Francisco, Cal.; Verna, of this city; Helen and William, at home. A brother, Martin Brandau, of Easton, former resident of this city, and five grandchildren, also survive.

Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
