Allison Leroy Nowels

Allison Leroy Nowels, died Friday, June 17, 1988.

Al Nowels was born in Omaha, Nebraska, he was the eldest of three children born to Charles L. and Carrie Allison Nowels. His family moved to Long Beach, California in 1911, where he attended school. In 1937 he moved to Salt Lake City, where he married Eleanor Story, his wife of 46 years, June 18th. After the war, he owned Western States Distributing Co. and the Inland Gas Co. in Salt Lake City. He was a member of the Board of Directors and past President of the National LP Gas Association. Al retired in 1968 to pursue his favorite sports of golf, fishing, and hunting. He was a member of the Fort Douglas Hidden Valley Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor, sister, Betty Stone, four children, . . . ., Bill Nowels, Bob Nowels, and. . . , plus 12 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles Nowels.

Graveside services celebrating his life with us will be held, Tuesday, June 21 at 11 a.m. in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, 1352 E. 500 South. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made in his memory to the Ronald McDonald House, "The House That Love Built" C/O Melissa Phillips, 73 H Street, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103. Funeral directors, Eastman's Evans & Early Mortuary.

His father was Charles LeRoy Nowels, death and burial unknown. He was the grandson of David and Carrie (Wilson) Nowels.

A memorial stone with his siblings has also been placed near his mother's grave in East Masonic 62 here in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Utah. See photo on this memorial.
