Kent L. Cassidy, 61, of Shelbyville, passed away peacefully Sunday, Oct. 2, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born July 5, 1955, to Hugh Cassidy and Claron Joy Robinson Cassidy in Shelbyville. He married Elaine Wildmone Cassidy on Jan. 18, 1986, and she survives. [daughter of William C. and Emiko “Amy” (Noto) Wildmone]
Other survivors include his mother of Shelby County; three children: Craig Cassidy and girlfriend, Kelly Hess, and their children, Kaydence Harris and Logan Brown, all of Plainfield; Keith Garrett and wife, Ashlee, of Fairland; and Brian Garrett of Shelbyville; two brothers: Larry Cassidy and wife, Pat, of Shelbyville; and Michael Cassidy and wife, Peggy, of Waldron; and nieces, Rachael Cassidy, Lauren Cassidy and Olivia Cassidy.
He was preceded in death by his father and his nephew, Seth Cassidy.
Mr. Cassidy was a lifetime resident of the area.
He graduated from Waldron High School in 1973 and Indiana University in 1978.
He was the owner and operator of Cassidy Landscaping for 20 years.
Mr. Cassidy was a member of Hope’s Point Baptist Church and the FFA.
Kent loved spending time with his family, watching movies, IU basketball, Indianapolis Colts football and golf. He enjoyed being outdoors and he loved his dog, Lexus.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 7, 2016, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176. A candlelight vigil will follow at 8:30 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 8, 2016, at the funeral home, with Pastor Ed Mohr officiating.
Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Shelbyville.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Shelbyville/Shelby County Animal Shelter in care of the funeral home.
