Hugh Cassidy, 85, of Shelbyville, died Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016, at Major Hospital.
He was born Oct. 16, 1930, in Manilla, to Ova and Dora (Mull) Cassidy. Hugh married Claron J. Robinson on April 16, 1950, and she survives.
Other survivors include three sons: Larry Cassidy and wife, Patricia, of Shelbyville; Kent Cassidy and wife, Elaine, of Shelbyville; and Michael Cassidy and wife, Peggy, of Waldron; grandchildren, Craig Cassidy, Rachael Cassidy, Lauren Cassidy and Olivia Cassidy; and stepgrandchildren, Brian Garrett and Keith Garrett.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Eleanor Roebuck and Beverly Snyder; brother, Charles Cassidy; and grandson, Seth Cassidy.
Mr. Cassidy was a 1948 graduate of Manilla High School.
He was a member of the former Homer Christian Church.
Mr. Cassidy was a lifelong farmer in Shelby and Rush Counties.
Along with his love for the land and farming, Hugh enjoyed spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, family gatherings, gospel music and home cooking. He loved playing barnyard basketball and backyard croquet. He enjoyed Indiana Pacers basketball, Cincinnati Reds baseball and his International Harvester farm equipment.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2016, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at the funeral home, with Pastor Jamie Kent officiating.
Burial will be at Manilla Cemetery.
