Anna's burial in Greenwood Cemetery is known only from cemetery records which show she was buried there on 5 May 1904.

Date of birth is from the 1900 US census. Date and place of death are from the New York Death Index, 1852-1956.

Sarah was the daughter of Dudley Gilman and Sarah "Sally" (Green) Adams. Please see the memorial for her brother, James Gilbert Adams, for a discussion of Dudley and Sarah.

Sarah appears to have used the name Sarah A, with a nickname of Sally, until around the time of her second marriage, when she began using the name Anna. From the census records, it is believed that her name was Sarah Anna, rather than Anna Sarah.

Sarah is shown living at home in the 1850 US census. In the 1860 US census, she is shown living with her first husband, Elijah Boorum, and their daughter, Emma. In the 1865 New York State census, Sarah and Emma are living with Sarah's parents. Sarah is shown as a widow, and the mother of 3 children. In the 1870 and subsequent censuses, she is shown as Anna or Annie Baldwin, wife of Belden Baldwin.

Elijah Boorum -

Elijah was the son of Rynear Giles and Sarah A Boorom. He was born about 1836 in USA, NY. His mother died before the 1850 US census, but Elijah and his siblings are shown in that census living with their father, R G Boorom (Borom), in USA, NY, Niagara, Wilson. The children, all born in USA, NY, are:

Jacob, born about 1834;
Elijah, born about 1836;
Isaac, born about 1839;
Betsy, born about 1841;
John H, born about 1844;
Harrison, born about 1846;
Emily, born about 1848.

In the 1855 Illinois State census, R G Boorom is shown in USA, IL, La Salle, Township 35. His household consisted of 3 males 10-20 (might be Elijah, Isaac, and John H, because Jacob was 21 and Harrison was 9), 1 male 40-50 (Rynear), 1 female 10 (Emily), 1 female 10-20 (Betsy), and 1 female 20-30 (perhaps a housekeeper or a second wife).

In the 1860 US census, Elijah is shown with his wife, Sarah A (Adams), in USA, NY, Niagara, Wilson, His two youngest siblings, Harrison (Hanson) and Emily, are shown living in USA, IL, LaSalle, Troy Grove, with R B (Rinaldo) Mahannah, his wife, Caroline (Cordelia) Mahannah and Rinaldo's father, Silas. Rinaldo is shown to be a physician. This could mean that Rynear died between 1855 and 1860, although, to date, no record of his death or burial has been found. It could also mean that he was not able to care for all of the children for some other reason.

Based on the 1865 New York State census, in which Sarah is shown as a widow, Elijah died between 1860 and 1865. Although this is the time period of the Civil War, no military records for Elijah have been found. It is presently not known when or where Elijah died or where he is buried. There is presently no way to determine if he is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, as there is no visible marker for him and he died before the earliest extant records for Greenwood, which begin in 1891.

If you have any information about Elijah, please contact the manager of this memorial. Thank you!
