Obituary from Herald-Press, Friday, September 8, 1944:

Mrs. Millie O. Nowels, 61, died at 10:58 p.m. Thursday at the Huntington county hospital where she had been since she became seriously ill August 21. She had been in faling health since June.

Mrs. Nowels was born September 12, 1882, in Noble county to Abraham and Catherine Altimus. She married Dennis B. Nowels October 25, 1905.

Surviving are the husband, three daughters, Mrs. Gladys Solloway, Mrs. Zelma Greider and Mrs. Marie Burchett, this city and four sons, Herman B. Nowels, this city, Pfc. Herbert L. Nowels, Guadalcanal; Sgt. Wallace R. Nowels, with the marines in the Marshall Islands and Pfc. Glenn Nowels, New Guinea; five grandchildren, . . . . Mrs. Martha Meroney, Ligionier, is a sister and Alonzo Altimus and Ernest Altimus, Topeka, Ind., are brothers.

Mrs. Nowels was a member of the Christian church at Ligionier and of Mothers of World War II. THe famly came to Huntington in 1919 from Noble county.

The body has been returned to the family residence, 538 Wesley street, where friends may call until Sunday noon when it will be taken to the Bailey chapel for funeral services at 2 p.m. with the Rev. P. Virgil Harris officiating.
Burial will be at Pilgrims Rest cemetery.
