Born Dec. 29, 1922, in Bluford, he was the son of Major and Mabel (Greene) Voyles. He married Ruth Nevitt, June 21, 1947.
Emory served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a gunner on a B26 and flew 66 missions. His foreign service was in England and France from June 1943 to June 1945, with the 556th Bomb Squadron and the Ninth Air Force. Emory received the Air Medal and E.J.O. Medal. He was a member of DeKalb Moose Club and Sycamore Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5768.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Ruth; a son, Ron Voyles of Sycamore; a stepson, Merle (Lin) Nevitt of Sycamore; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Pat Voyles; and great-grandchild, Logan Cartwright.
The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 28, at Quiram Sycamore Funeral Chapel, 1245 Somonauk St. in Sycamore, with the Rev. Bill Landis officiating, with burial at Elmwood Cemetery in Sycamore. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 27, at Quiram Sycamore Funeral Chapel; 815-895-6589.
