Jacqueline R. Gann passed away Thursday, June 30, 2016 of natural causes.

Jackie was born on March 21, 1933 in Denver, Colorado, to Bunny Heister and Fritz Owen. She was raised in Salida, Colorado, and lived many years in the home lovingly built by her grandpa, Elwood Gilbraith Heister- “Papa.” She grew up spending endless hours playing outdoors, and riding her horses Tango and Delsey to the family homestead in the hills above Salida.

She later moved to Longview, Washington to live with an aunt and uncle, and graduated from R.A. Long High School in 1951.

Jackie met Samuel D. Gann of Castle Rock, Washington at a Silverlake Grange Hall square dance. They married on February 14, 1954 in Longview, and were blessed with four children.

She and Sammy joined the LDS church in 1961, and they were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1962. Jackie remained active in the church throughout her life, serving in many callings, including many years as an early morning seminary teacher. Sammy passed away in 1973.

Jackie returned to college and graduated from BYU in 1979 with a degree in Elementary Education. She taught in Washington, California, and in Kayenta, Arizona on the Navajo Indian Reservation. She retired to Salida in 1998.

Jackie enjoyed the outdoors, crocheting, karaoke, reading, spending time with children, and making people laugh. One of her great loves was serving as a leader in Camp Fire Girls.

She is survived by sons Daniel D. Gann (Judy) and Michael D. Gann (Christie), daughter Kimberly Ledesma, 11 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband Sammy, her son Glenn Patrick (Rick), and granddaughter Elana Ledesma.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 5, 2016 at the West Point 13th Ward Chapel, 3290 West 800 North. A viewing will precede the funeral from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church.

Burial and graveside service will be at the Silver Lake Cemetery, Cowlitz Co., Washington on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m.

The family would like to thank the caregivers of Health Watch Home Health, Hospice For Utah, and The Family Tree Assisted Living staff for the excellent care they gave to Jackie.
