Vera J. (Pletcher) Boggs, 88, Bristow, Va., formerly of Duncansville, died Monday at Haymarket Medical Center, following a brief illness.
She was born in Altoona, daughter of the late Alfred and Emma (Baker) Pletcher. She married Thomas F. Boggs in 1946, in Cumberland, Md. He preceded her in death in 1983, after 37 years of marriage.
Surviving are four daughters: Cheryl Neal and husband, Bob, Glenda Dickerson, Lisa Robeson and husband, Randy, all in Virginia, and Karen Mentzer and husband, Phillip, of Duncansville; a son, Kevin and wife, Gloria, of Altoona; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a sister, Patricia Decowski in Florida.
She was preceded in death by a grandson, Jordan Robeson; three sisters; and two brothers.
Vera retired from Sylvania as a tester, and was a former member of Smith Corner Church, where she was actively involved before moving to Virginia. She enjoyed being a Senior Companion for Blair Senior Services, listening to music and doing crossword puzzles.
Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 24, 2016, and from 11 a.m. to noon, Saturday, June 25, 2016, at Sorge Funeral Home Inc., Hollidaysburg, where a funeral service will be held at noon Saturday. Interment will be at Blair Memorial Park.
