Ronald Leon “Gunnie” Gunyan Jr. , 67, of Rock Springs, Wyoming passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family. A lifelong resident of Rock Springs, Mr. Gunyan had been in ill health for the past ten months. He was born on March 24, 1949 in Dines, Wyoming, the son of the late Ronald Leo Gunyan Sr. and Rosetta L. Manlove Gunyan. Mr. Gunyan attended schools in Rock Springs and was a 1969 graduate of the Rock Springs High School and he attended college and obtained a degree in Maintenance. He married Barbara Gibbons Gunyan on July 16, 1970 in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Mr. Gunyan was a United States Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and served from March 5, 1969 until he received his honorable discharge on October 16, 1970. While serving in the United States Army, he received many awards including the Bronze Star, the Purple Heart and Air Medal. He was a member of Rip Cord Association, American Legion Archie Hay Post #24, Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie 151 and 101st Airborne Association; founding charter member of American Legion Riders Post #24 Wyoming.

His interests were hunting, fishing and was an avid outdoorsman. He also enjoyed yard work, playing music, gardening and spending time with his dogs Izzy and Chewie and family members. He also enjoyed tormenting family for being idiots.

Survivors include his wife of forty-five years Barbara Gunyan of Rock Springs, Wyoming; his mother Rosetta Gunyan of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one son Ronald Leon Gunyan III and wife Juanita of Rock Springs; one daughter Dana Lyn Cooke and husband Mike of Rock Springs, Wyoming; three brothers Myron Gunyan, Richard Gunyan and wife Ann, Mike Gunyan and wife Peggy all of Rock Springs, Wyoming; two brothers -in-law Wally Gibbons of Deadwood, South Dakota and Cliff Gibbons and wife Carol of Rock Springs, Wyoming; Four sisters Sharon Gunyan of Casper, Wyoming, Bernadette Boyak and husband Andy of Green River, Wyoming, Fran Jennings and husband Floyd of Rock Springs, Wyoming and Lillian Dominguez and husband Javier of Belin, New Mexico; one uncle Jack Gunyan of Rock Springs, Wyoming; one aunt Darlene Overman and husband Myron of Butte, Montana; grandchildren Kodi Provence, Holly Provence, Destiny Provence, Randi Burns and husband Mike, Jerry Evans and wife Jess, Terry Renney and wife Aundrea; eight great-grandchildren; bookoo cousins, nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by his father; two brothers Wayne Gunyan and Gerald Gunyan; his paternal grandparents Ben and Lillian Gunyan; his maternal grandparents Wayne and Fern Manlove; niece Crystal Jennings and grandson Curtis Elam.

Following cremation, a celebration of life will be conducted at 10:00 A.M. Monday, June 13, 2016 in the Small Exhibit Hall at the Sweetwater County Events Complex, 3320 Yellowstone Road, Rock Springs, Wyoming. Military Honors and Inurnment will be in the Rock Springs Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call at the Events Complex one hour prior to services.
