Orpha Estella Adams, 92, formerly of East Pomfret Street, Carlisle, died Friday, Feb. 17, 2006, at Claremont Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle. She was born on Saturday, Sept. 27, 1913, in Jasper County, Ind., and was a daughter of the late William and Margaret VanCleef.

Orpha was the widow of Luther R. Adams, who died Oct. 3, 1973. She was a homemaker and was known for her love of caregiving to both adults and children. She also opened her home to those in need, giving time, care and companionship, whether it be family, friends or neighbors. She had a love for the outdoors and her daily walks around Carlisle. She spent many hours tending her beautiful flowers and canning her fruits and vegetables. She always had a pet dog, the last one named, "Blackie."

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday in Ewing Brothers Funeral Home, 630 S. Hanover St., Carlisle, with the Rev. Joseph Kugle officiating. Burial will be in LeTort Cemetery, Middlesex Township. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 9:30 a.m. until time of the services.
