Mrs. C.L. Madsen Called in Death Sundy Morning

Mrs. C.L. Madsen passed away at her home in Arlington at an early hour Sunday morning, following a stroke that she suffered the night before. Mrs. Madsen had, in fact, been ailing for some time, and her passing was not altogether a surprise to her family.
Funeral rites are being held in the Trinity Lutheran Church this afternoon, with Rev. O.M. Seversekike in charge, and burial will take place in the Bangor cemetery beside the graves of her husband, C.L. Madsen, who passed away on January 30th, 1932, and her two daughters Cora and Mary.
Reverend Sweversike used as his text the 23rd Psalm: Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for Thou are with me. He spoke words of commendation for the good woman who had been called home. Music consisted of two solos by Mrs. Howard Peterson--"Behold a Host Arrayed in White," and "Safe in the Arms of Jesus."
An outstanding Arlington personality, the mother of ten children, beloved by all who knew her, the regret is universal that the time comes when she is called from earth.
At the funeral this afternoon, the following life sketch will be read:
Patrina Vangsgaard was born July 24, 1863 at Thisted, Denmark, and passed away May 4, 1941 at the age of 77 years, 9 months and 12 days.
On the 27th day of March, 1885, she was united in marriage with C.L. Madsen. In the fall of the same year, the young couple settled on their farm in Bangor Township. Here they lived and toiled together through many hardships of pioneer days until the year 1920 when they moved to their new home in Arlington.
To this union ten children were born, two of whom preceded her in death, namely Cora at the age of one year, and Mary, at the age of thirty.
The eight remaining children are Mrs. Lottie Hinderaker, Astoria, Mrs. Julia Sogaard, Seattle, Ebba Madsen, Reno, Roy Madsen, Elkton, Mrs. Minnie Larson, Clarence, Martin and Nora, all of Arlington. There are eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild. Also one sister in Minneapolis and one brother in Superior, Wisconsin.
Mrs. Madsen was a charter member of the Bangor Lutheran congregation and worked faithfully there for forty years. When this congregation dissolved, she was admitted in the Arlington Lutheran church September 29, 1931. Here she remained a faithful member and as active as her failing strength would permit until her death.
