Helen Mae Allen Schrepel, age 99, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at Ogeechee Area Hospice surrounded by her loving family.

Helen was born on January 13, 1917 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas. She came to Statesboro in 1938, when her dad moved the family to Statesboro, in order for him to establish a timber business, doing business with Union Camp Corporation in Savannah. She joined First Baptist Church of Statesboro in 1938 and has been a faithful member for 78 years and keeping the church nursery for many years.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse David Allen and Katie Cooney Allen; her husband of 64 years, Arthur William (Art) Schrepel; brothers, William Jesse Allen and Earl Franklin Allen; sisters, Mattie Belle Allen Holzer, Marie Allen Boatman Norris and Katie (Juanita) Allen Ellis and her son-in-law, Emory M. Roberts.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Jessie Schrepel Roberts and Kathryn Anne Schrepel both of Statesboro; son, William Arthur (Bill) Schrepel and his wife, Brenda Brown Schrepel of Stilson; grandsons, Eric Allen Schrepel and his wife, Jennifer and David William Schrepel and his wife, Blair; great-granddaughters, Harper Schrepel and Holland Schrepel; step-granddaughter, Cindy Roberts Besser; step great-granddaughters, Marissa Besser Hang and Lee Anna Besser; sister, Jo Anne Allen Strozzo of Brooklet and more nieces and nephews than can be counted.

The family will receive friends 5:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday, February 27, 2016 in Hodges-Moore Funeral Home.

The graveside funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, February 28, 2016 in Eastside Cemetery with Dr. H. William Perry officiating.

Helen was a wonderful mother and much loved!
