OBITUARY:
Sophie Edmonds
Sophie Gilliam Edmonds, 88, of Pikeville, died at 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at her home.
She was born in Pike County, April 22, 1915, a daughter of the late George and Louise Walters Gilliam.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Stone Coal Church of Christ.
She was preceded in church by her husband, Walter C. Edmonds, who died June 23, 1991; one son, Johnny Edmonds, who died June 25, 1990; and all of her brothers and sisters.
She is survived by three sons, Bob Edmonds, Walter Edmonds Jr. and Roy Edmonds, all of Pikeville; seven daughters, Margaret Auxier of Stanford, Juanita Prater, Nancy Akers, Edith Mullins and Linda Mullins, all of Pikeville, Lucille Bertrand of Prestonsburg, Lillie Mae Salisbury of South Gate, Mich.; 25 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 6, in the J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Delmer Jarvis officiating. Burial will follow in the Edmonds Cemetery, Tollage Creek Road, Pikeville. Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call & Son Funeral Home of Pikeville.
Special services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday.
