Walter Edmonds Jr.
Walter Edmonds Jr., 63, of Joes Creek, Pikeville, died Friday, March 24, 2006 at Pikeville Medical Center.
He was born March 23, 1943 in Pike County, a son of the late Walter C. Edmonds Sr. and Sophie Gilliam Edmonds.
He was a retired coal miner for Branham & Baker and a member of Joes Creek Church of Christ.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Johnny Edmonds.
He is survived by his wife, Janice Scott Edmonds; two sons, Walter Heath (Suzanne) Edmonds of Berea and Jarrod Brent (Heather) Edmonds of Pikeville; one daughter, Beverly VanTresa (Randall) Parsons of Pikeville; two brothers, Bob Edmonds and Roy Edmonds, both of Pikeville; seven sisters, Lillie Mae Salisbury of Southgate, Mich., Edith Mullins, Linda Mullins, Juanita Prater and Nancy Akers, all of Pikeville, Lucille Bertrand of Prestonsburg, and Margaret Edmonds of Danville; four grandchildren, Jason Randal Parsons, Jeremy Lars Wilson Parsons, Brittany VanTressa Parsons and Hannah Elizabeth Edmonds, and one great-grandchild, Austin Colby Parsons.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 27 at 11 a.m. at J.W. Call Funeral Home with Jim Abshire, Keith Blackburn, Randal Parsons, and Dean Lyons officiating. Burial will follow at Edmonds Family Cemetery, Joes Creek Road, Pikeville.
Pallbearers will be Craig Ray, Larry Ray, Mike Lowe, Jerry Thacker, Steve Prater, Wesley Edmonds, Lonnie Ray, Lester Ray, Phillip Wheeler, Bobby Edmonds. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Edmonds, James Mullins, Jackson Mullins, Rick Prater, Melvin Lindemann, Carmel Akers and Charles Bertrand.
Arrangements are under direction of J.W. Call Funeral Home.
